We recently partnered with DJC Build and Nick Carroll Architects to construct a new, purpose-built luxury clubhouse complex at Aber Bay, a seafront holiday park along the coast from the cultural capital of Wales, Aberystwyth. We were engaged for lighting design and supply. The project was for all external and internal areas of this multi-storey complex, which incorporates a swimming pool, restaurant and roof terrace bar.
Guests are welcomed by a warm glow around the outside of the building, created by lengths of linear profile. Within our design and supply, we created bespoke stepped glass pendants for the reception desk, along with specially designed spheres. The opal glass spheres blend into an immersive feature light with 105 opal glass spheres, leading visitors up the stairs into the restaurant / bar area. We perfectly wall washed the perimeter of the pool area, along with the use of bendable profile to follow the curves of the barrisol ceiling, creating a calm elegant ambience.
In the bar area, large clouds are suspended, representing an open sky. A range of sizes have been installed to give depth to the area, with the biggest fitting being 1.8m.The overall lighting is controlled via a Lutron system, allowing the clients to easily control all the lighting, and set dimming protocols.
